This kit produces a full three-dimensional plaster sculpture of a hand by capturing every knuckle, fingernail, and palm line in a single session at home.
The process begins when the supplied molding powder is combined with lukewarm water inside the included bucket. A hand or pair of clasped hands enters the mixture and remains still for two to five minutes while the material sets into a flexible negative mold. The hand is then withdrawn, leaving a precise cavity.
Next, the casting stone is mixed with water and poured directly into the mold. After an overnight cure the rubbery mold peels away, revealing a solid plaster hand ready for light sanding with the included disc.
All required materials arrive in one compact box: one packet of molding powder sized 17.5 by 13 centimeters, one packet of casting stone, a 12-centimeter-tall bucket 13 centimeters wide at the top and 10.2 centimeters at the base, nitrile gloves measuring 24 by 10.5 centimeters, a 7.5 by 0.4 centimeter wooden stick, and a 4.9 by 0.9 centimeter sanding disc. The outer box measures 13.5 centimeters on each side.
The molding powder is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and skin-safe, matching materials used in dental impressions. It accommodates a single adult hand, a child hand, or two small hands together and sets quickly enough to suit infants or toddlers who do not remain motionless for long periods.
The finished sculpture can be displayed as raw plaster or finished with acrylic paint, gold leaf, bronze rub, or clear sealer. Total time from mixing to shelf display is typically twelve to eighteen hours.
